Baby #3

No pictures with this post. Just wanted to let you all know that we are having a little girl. We all went for the ultrasound on Thursday. Maddie said she was excited and that she was going to tell everyone she knows. She even got her own ultrasound picture to take home and put on the refrigerator and look at. We did not get the ultrasound pics on CD this time, so we will not be posting those. Everything looks good. Maddie is saying she wants to name her Gabriella after the Gabriella on High School Musical. We are going to have to break the news to her that that is not going to be her little sister's name. She is asking lots of questions about her baby sister, which is very sweet. She asked tonight where her baby sister is going to sit to eat when she comes out. We will have to remind her that the baby cannot do much at all when she is first born.

Turn About Is Fair Play

Okay, this post is for all of you who gave me a hard time for cutting Davis' hair a couple of weeks ago. Just so you know I didn't do anything to him that I wasn't also willing to let Davis (or Maddie for that matter) do to me also. Last night both Maddie and Davis helped out in cutting my hair.

Notice in the first two pictures that Maddie is wearing an apron. She would not help cut my hair until she had an apron on like Aunt Brandy wears when she cuts our hair.

Zoo Trip Part 2 - North America

Here are some pictures from the North American section of the zoo. (We really need to start a 'Flickr' account. We got loads of great pictures that we would love for all of you to be able to see, but too many to post on the blog.)

By the way - if you're a Puffin lover, don't ask us what we thought about them. It was feeding time when we went into the Puffin exhibit and Maddie didn't like the smell of the fish (as you can see from the picture above) so we passed through there in a hurry.

Zoo Trip Part 1 - Africa

We took a trip to the NC Zoo in Ashboro on Thursday, April 9, 2009. Our family went with Matt's uncle, Jon, and his children Kyle and Faith Ashley. It was an absolutely beautiful day, sunny with no clouds and about 70 degrees. We arrived at the zoo at about 10:30am and the children were having so much fun that we did not leave until about 4:30pm. When we left everyone was exhausted, but we could not have asked for a better trip. We prayed Thursday morning at breakfast before we left that God would cause the animals to be out and active so that we could see them all and He honored our requests. All of the animals were out and very active (the only exception being the lions who were taking their mid-morning nap apparently).

If you haven't been to the NC Zoo before, the park is broken up into two sections: an Africa section featuring animals that you would see in Africa and a North American section featuring animals that you would see in North America. Animals in the Africa part of the park included Giraffes, Zebras, Lions, Elephants, Rhinos, and various Monkeys. Animals in the North America part of the park included Alligators, Polar Bears, Grizzley Bears, Bison, and Wolves.

Some of our favorite exhibits were the Giraffes, who were out and so close you felt like you could touch them, the Elephants, and the Polar Bear who was being very active while we were there, swimming and playing with various balls and barrells. (And of course Matt enjoyed seeing the wolves - imagine that.) Here are some pictures from the African section of the Zoo.

Visit from the Rhodes and Easter Egg Hunt

Our friends the Rhodes came for a visit the weekend of April 3rd – 5th. Michelle will be attending Meredith College next year, so she, Sarah, and Todd spent Saturday, the 4th, at Meredith while Emily and Rebecca joined us for an Easter Egg Hunt in the morning, a little time at the park, lunch at Chick-fil-a, and then back to the apartment to hang out. The girls stayed Saturday night and then went to church with us in the morning. We had a great weekend! Maddie and Davis loved having all of the extra company and cried when everyone left. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.
